Her House, Her Clothes
Artist Statement

The images in Her House, Her Clothes are created through a specific set of parameters. I gain permission from women to enter their homes and their closets while they are not home. While there, I photograph myself in their home and clothing.

The choice of clothing and setting is mine but is limited by the owner’s context. I am not striving to be this woman, imitate or mimic their personality. I am trying on their possessions and attempting to step into their viewable lives; to see what it looks like to have their things and inhabit their home. My actual performance is an attempt to transform their world into a photogenic scene. The person I portray is somewhere between who they are, who I am and who the audience interprets us to be through setting in and costume.

I am still actively building this series and am always looking for new participants. If you are at all interested, please email me.
